You have arrived at the internet home of the WAIF dolls from The Finishing Stitch of Maine.  This site is all about the uniqueness of these wonderful little "people".  Handcrafted from only the best quality fabrics, thread, and thoughts, each of these dolls have their own personality.  As they are created, their personality rises out of the pieces that they are created from. 

As each WAIF's look and feel develops they are named. Rayne, Rupert, Charity, and many others.  Each is unique in its look, haircolor, skin color, facial expressions, body, and clothing.  They vary from 14" up to 28" in length.  

The Finishing Stitch creates a whole variety of dolls, gift decoratives, snowmen decorations, and unique WAIFs.  In addition to the dolls and decoratives, I also love to create quilts and my own designs of Japanese Bunka.  Sewing has been a part of my life since I was barely a teenager. 

There is always a few WAIFs lounging around, waiting for a new home.  If you want something more special to your own tastes, then I can create your own WAIF from your choices of hair color, skin color, size, and cloth selections.  You can select from one that already exists and make it unique.  Each WAIF is handmade, so exact duplicates are not possible.
